As some of you will know, I’m a trustee for the Huddersfield Town Foundation, which is why we recently attended the charity’s Fizz Friday at Manor House Lindley.
The fundraiser took place in the hotel’s beautiful Coach House and was hosted by the CEO of the Jo Cox Foundation, Kim Leadbeater – who is also one of my close friends. Kim collaborates closely with the Huddersfield Town Foundation on strategic projects, where the work of the Jo Cox Foundation is seeking to achieve the same outcomes. She made the afternoon great fun and also highlighted the important work the initiative undertakes for young people in the area.
The charitable gathering was attended by over 130 ladies, and we raised more than £7,000 for the Foundation. These funds are vital to being able continue the work we undertake locally, such as ensuring children get a nutritious breakfast before school.
All who attended had the opportunity to join in with games and an auction to raise valuable funds for such an incredible cause. We also enjoyed a beautiful Christmas lunch – so we were all well and truly in the festive spirit.
The Fizz Friday initiative is incredibly important for a number of reasons, primarily because we need to raise £140,000 every year to finance our local breakfast clubs.
It’s amazing to be able to support our town’s charities and, in particular, children in the community. I'm excited to be spending more time in 2020 supporting young people through the Huddersfield Town Foundation and also with my financial education programme for children in schools.
Overall, it was a wonderful afternoon, and my guests had a fantastic time learning more about the work of the Foundation. I’m looking forward to next year’s event already!
